1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to kristenjoyce.com (the “Site”). The Site is owned and operated by Kristen Joyce, LMHC (“Company,” “I”,“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using the Site, contacting us, or enrolling in services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

Mailing Address: PO Box 60094, Florence, MA 01062
Program Location (by enrollment only): Everyday Mindfulness Building, 40 Center Street, Northampton, MA 01060

3. Services and Scope

  • 3.1 Psychotherapy (Telehealth). We provide psychotherapy (“therapy”) to adults physically located in Massachusetts at the time of service via a secure telehealth platform (SimplePractice).

  • 3.2 Skills-Based Educational Programs. We also offer skills-based programs at the Northampton Center for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (“Center Programs”), including Adult DBT Skills Training (virtual group), Parent DBT Coaching (virtual), Family DBT Bootcamps (in person), and Couples DBT Intensives (in person or virtual). Center Programs are educational and are not psychotherapy or medical treatment. Participation does not establish a therapist–patient relationship.

  • 3.3 No Crisis Services. The Site and our services are not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, call 988 or 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.

4. Eligibility

You must be able to consent to services. For family programs involving minors, a parent or legal guardian must consent. We may decline participation if a service is inappropriate or at capacity.

5. Location Requirement for Therapy

Although therapy is delivered via telehealth, you must be physically located in Massachusetts at the time of any therapy session, as that is the state of licensure.

6. Appointments, Cancellations, and Refunds

  • 6.1 Therapy (Telehealth).

    • Session Length: Standard sessions are 45 minutes. Requests for other lengths must be arranged in advance.

    • Rates: $175 per individual therapy session; $200 per couples/family session.

    • Cancellation: Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance. Changes with less than 48 hours notice may be charged the full session fee.

    • Late Arrivals: Sessions end at the scheduled time. Late arrival may reduce session time.

    • Payment Timing: Payment is due at the time of session. With your signed authorization in SimplePractice, the card on file will be charged after each session. Receipts are available upon request.

    • Returned Checks: A $10 service charge applies for checks returned for any reason.

  • 6.2 Center Programs (Enrollment Only).

7. Insurance and Superbills

We are out of network and do not bill insurance. Reimbursement, if any, is between you and your insurer.

  • Therapy: SimplePractice automatically generates a superbill after each session for potential out-of-network submission.

  • Programs: Superbills available upon request.

  • Optional services such as Thrizer and Reimbursify may assist with reimbursement submissions (fees may apply).

8. Communications; Social Media; Accessibility

  • 8.1 Telephone/Text/Email. For scheduling or logistics, text is preferred. We aim to respond within 24 business hours when possible. Do not use email or text for clinical content or emergencies.

  • 8.2 Not for Emergencies. For emergencies or safety concerns, call 988 or 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.

  • 8.3 Social Media. To protect confidentiality and avoid dual relationships, we do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

9. Telehealth; Privacy; Security

  • 9.1 Telehealth Consent. By using telehealth, you consent to receive services electronically and understand limits to observation compared to in-person care. You may withdraw telehealth consent at any time.

  • 9.2 Confidentiality. We use reasonable safeguards and HIPAA-aligned tools (e.g., SimplePractice) for therapy records. However, email and text are not fully secure, and confidentiality cannot be guaranteed for those channels.

  • 9.3 Privacy Policy. For website data, cookies, and analytics (Squarespace), see our Privacy Policy.

10. Intellectual Property

All Site content (text, graphics, audio, downloads, design) is owned by us or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.

11. Third-Party Links & Resources

External links are provided for convenience and educational purposes only. We are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or availability.

12. Good Faith Estimate (Therapy)

If you are not using insurance, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of therapy charges under federal law. Request details at intake or by email.

13. Disclaimers

  • 13.1 No Medical Advice. Site content is for general informational purposes only and is not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice.

  • 13.2 No Guarantees. We do not guarantee specific outcomes or results. Individual experiences vary.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or participation in services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Site.

16. Termination; Discontinuation of Services

We may terminate or suspend Site access at any time. For therapy, a thoughtful termination process supports closure. We may recommend or initiate termination after discussion if therapy is not being effectively used or for unpaid balances. If you do not schedule an appointment for three consecutive weeks without prior arrangement, we may consider the professional relationship discontinued. Referrals can be provided upon request.

17. Governing Law; Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Massachusetts.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Updates take effect upon posting to the Site. Your continued use after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
